BIOGRAPHY

Rabbi Jay Kelman, founder of Torah in Motion, received a BSc in accounting from Yeshiva University and Smicha from its affiliate, Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He served as a pulpit rabbi in Toronto for 15 years, and was a recipient of the Award for Rabbinic Leadership from the United Jewish Communities Federation of North America. In addition to his founder and leadership roles in Torah in Motion, Rabbi Kelman teaches Ethics, Talmud and Rabbinics at the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. Rabbi Kelman is a member of both the Rabbinical Council of America and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Rabbi Kelman is a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Canada and earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) degree in the United States, with previous work experience in the Tax Department of a large international accounting firm. His monthly column Money Matters is published in the Canadian Jewish News. Rabbi Kelman was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and he In addition to his founder and leadership roles in Torah in Motion, Rabbi Kelman teaches Ethics, Talmud and Rabbinics at the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto.
